I don't know how many people are sleeping on this dude but it's time we all woke up. I haven't posted in almost half a year. Why? It just wasn't anything to post about. The hip-hop scene has been uninspiring, dull, unimaginative. The Blueprint 3 was nice but mostly everything else was too pop or too profane for my taste. Until, dun, dun, dun, dun, music intro please: K'naan. I haven't heard such refreshing originality since Damien Marley and Kanye came on the scene. Nowadays you buy a CD or download an album and it it may have five hot tracks out of 12 like Common or Gucci Mane. It's very rare to enjoy an album from start to finish like K'naan but that's exactly what happened here. Hot fire from song one to song 15. Dude's a Somalian born Canadian whose talent runs like the river Niger. It's something for everybody on his album Troubadour and the hip-hop idealist will take comfort that there's finally a sincere effort to make music and not digitized smut. I love the album, my kids love the album, and my wifey was wondering what we were listening to. Well hun, it's just another game changer, K'naan.
